The Situation: Before the Project

The existing mechanical room: two Navien condensing tankless gas units serving a full in-floor radiant and baseboard system — well-designed, well-installed, just not geothermal.

The Property

The property located West Coxsackie is a 3,000 sq ft home located on a Columbia County hillside overlooking a valley. It was built in 2009 with in-floor radiant heat throughout.

The Installation: Drilling

The drilling rig on site — a single vertical bore drilled to 600 feet in the driveway. The driveway was counterintuitive but obvious once you study the site: shortest trench path to the mechanical room by far.

The Installation: Headering

Installing the ground loop — this machine feeds the ground loop all the way to the bottom of the drilled hole. A pressure tested, leak-free loop is the foundation of system performance for the next 50+ years.

The Installation: Interior

Supply and return lines entering the mechanical room through the foundation wall — sealed and insulated.

The Result: Site Restored

Site restored — trench backfilled, driveway graded and compacted. The homeowners dressed it with a light gravel top coat. From the road, you'd never know.
