Darren Jones has dedicated his career to residential construction and energy efficiency, with a focus on building analysis and HVAC-driven solutions. With a deep understanding of building science and hands-on construction experience, he brings a systems-level perspective to the unique challenges of every home.

Darren founded Taproot Geo after seven years at Dandelion Energy — one of the country's largest residential geothermal companies, having installed systems in thousands of New York homes. At Dandelion, he helped scale operations from the ground up, taking on roles spanning field quality management, contractor oversight, technical training, process improvement, and energy consulting. He worked directly with hundreds of homeowners to design better systems and deliver real, measurable savings.

His expertise spans building technology, architectural design, construction methods, and fine woodworking. Darren holds a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from UC Berkeley, trained in Fine Woodworking at the College of the Redwoods, and is certified by the Building Performance Institute (BPI) as both a Building Analyst and Shell Specialist. He also holds IGSHPA Accredited Installer certification — the industry standard for ground source heat pump installation.
